Connecting ECRN rain gauge to an analogue device

When connecting an ECRN50 or ECRN100 rain gauge to an analogue device:

Plug the output connector into the PAP connector (pigtail) and connect the pigtail wires to the device.
The switch is connected between the red and silver shield wires of the pigtail.
The white wire is not connected.
