AccuPAR LP-80 Ceptometer

The new AccuPAR model LP-80 is Decagon's newest generation of ceptometer, designed for quick and reliable measurement
of PAR and LAI in plant canopies. With the new LP-80, you get instant real-time PAR measurements as soon as you turn it on,
and your LAI data is updated with each PAR measurement.
Other new features include:
- Intuitive 6-key menu-driven interface
- Included external PAR sensor for simultaneous above and below-canopy PAR measurement
- Large memory capacity
- Low power consumption/AA alkaline battery-powered
How it works
The AccuPAR model LP-80 is a linear PAR ceptometer consisting of an integrated probe and microcontroller. The probe is
about 86.5cm long and contains 80 sensors that are sensitive to the PAR waveband. The microcontroller interprets the PAR
signals coming from the probe, allowing you to read PAR. It also calculates LAI of your samples instantly with each PAR
measurement you take, using the intercepted and available PAR and other variables.
Features and Benefits
Ease of use
The LP-80 is designed for ease of use̴helping you to minimize setup time and begin measuring as soon as possible. It only
has 4 menus: PAR/LAI sampling, unattended logging, file access, and setup, and its intuitive 6-key interface allows you to
navigate inside these menus with up and down arrow keys, and move from menu to menu with one button push.
Instant real-time PAR/LAI sampling
As soon as you turn the LP-80 on, you're measuring PAR in the PAR sampling mode. Real-time PAR values are displayed on
screen, and can be stored with the press of a button. Simply take one PAR reading above the canopy and one below it, and an
LAI calculation is displayed. With each subsequent measurement, this value is updated and displayed on the screen.
Unattended logging
The unattended PAR sampling mode lets you program the instrument to make and store measurements at intervals from once
a minute to once an hour.
Included external PAR sensor
The LP-80 is shipped to you with an external PAR sensor. This allows you to make simultaneous above and below-canopy
PAR measurements with one button push. You can also re-normalize the LP-80's probe sensors as often as you want by
calibrating it against the external sensor.
User-calibrated probe
The external PAR sensor that you receive with the LP-80 can also be used to calibrate the probe as often as you wish.
The external PAR sensor only needs to be calibrated once every 1-2 years, so this allows you to keep your probe calibrated
and accurate while keeping costs low.
High memory capacity
The LP-80 has about 1MB of memory storage. This allows you to store a vast number of measurements without worrying about
having to clear the memory. You can also view the data you've stored on screen, and download it to your computer for further
analysis.
Low power consumption
The LP-80 uses very little power due to the newer technology incorporated by the instrument. It powered by 4 AA
alkaline batteries, which should last at least 2 years before requiring replacement.
Accessories

All of the following accessories come as part of the AccuPAR system:
- External PAR sensor 2 metre long cable with connector for direct connection to the ceptometer's external port.
Calibrated to provide an output of about 0.1 mV per ̴mol m-2 s-1 (calibration label provided). 1/4 x 20 threaded
insert for mounting; domed top. Calibrated to sunlight or electric lamps.
- Extension Cables (model EXPAR-25) are available for the External PAR sensor. They are 7.6m long.
Tools
Non-magnetic screwdriver and RS-232 cable for interfacing between your computer and the AccuPAR.
Manual
The LP-80 user manual will help you maximize your measurement capabilities by informing you how to set up the instrument
to best fit your needs.

Carrying case
The ceptometer and its accessories all come in this durable polyethylene hardened case. Its foam cutouts allow the
instrument and its accessories to safely be stored inside. Weight: 3.6kg, Dimensions: 11.8cm x 24cm x 109cm.
