Miniature, Low Temperature Infra-Red Thermometers
The MINI-THERM Model 3800L Miniaturized Infrared Temperature Sensor is especially useful for applications where the size of the infrared sensor is of particular importance. This fixed-mounted sensor is only 5/8" in diameter and 2¼" in length. It can go where other temperature sensors cannot.
The VARIO-THERM Model 6000L Infrared Temperature Sensor is the most sophisticated of all temperature sensors offered by Everest Interscience. It is unique in that it combines the VARIO-ZOOOM Field-Variable-Focus System with TTL/SLR Intra-Optical Light Sighting. The stainless steel case is only 7/8" in diameter and 2¾" in length.

Fixed Mounted, Low Temperature Infra-Red Thermometers
The ENVIRO-THERM Model 4000L Infrared Temperature Sensor is the traditional temperature sensor manufactured by Everest Interscience. It has been used extensively for continuous monitoring of crops and other targets in the natural environment. The electronics for the 4000L Sensor are housed in a stainless steel case that is sealed for extra protection when using the instrument outdoors. It has the same temperature range, resolution, accuracy and repeatability as the MINI-THERM but it is two inches in diameter by three inches in length. The standard output is Analog Millivolt at 10 mV/°C. It comes with an optional 0-5 Volt output.
The ENVIRO-THERM Series includes a Model 4500L which has an embedded data acquisition system. With this data logger, a single channel is used to save up to 32,000 date/time-stamped records. The Model 4500L described below has a USB Output.

Model 1000 Calibration Source
The Model 1000 calibration source is used to check and verify the temperature reading of the low temperature, portable infrared thermometers.
Quickly and accurately check calibration in the field or laboratory with Everest Low-Temperature Calibration Source (Model 1000). It is a small, hand-held, self-contained, portable unit that checks the precision of any infrared thermometer with ±0.3°C accuracy.
Turn the source on and aim the infrared thermometer with its Emissivity set at .98 at the specially treated target on the Calibration Source. Then, compare the readout on the infrared thermometer or sensor to the digital readout of the target liquid crystal display.
The blackbody surface of the instrument has been prepared using proprietary high-emissivity aluminum oxide, with a configuration that uses re-entrant concentric rings. This allows the infrared energy to bounce back and forth between the rings, giving a blackbody surface closest to a perfect configuration as possible.

The SKY-SPY corrects for unwanted sky radiation with the result that the sky radiation noise, which can normally contribute from 0.5 to 2°C random uncertainty in the Infrared Thermometer reading is now corrected such that the thermometer will perform at its laboratory calibration specification of 0.25 to 0.5°C under any sky conditions. This is achieved by incorporating another sensor to compensate for the reflected sky radiation characteristics and produce a more precise infrared measurement.

The Field-Variable-Focus Infrared Thermometry System allows varying of the focus and field view of the infrared thermometer to identfy the exact target area where a surface temperature measurement is being taken.
For the life of the infrared industry, it has been necessary to be sure to match the infrared thermometer to the application. If a person wanted to measure a very minute target, it was necessary to purchase a close-focus instrument. For targets at a greater distance, an infinity focus infrared thermometer was needed. With the invention of VARIO-ZOOOM, the Field-Variable-Focus Infrared Thermometery System, this is no longer necessary.
One infrared thermometer can be used for both applications referred to above. The focus can be easily changed simply by gently pushing the optics of the instrument in or pulling it out. After finding the optimum focus, the operator can lock it into place on the infrared sensors. The instrument will remain focused at that distance until it is refocused. There is no lock on the handheld units, but two rubber gaskets stop the optics from moving after the unit is focused.
When focusing in the laboratory, the TTL/SLR Intra-Optical Light Sighting System, assists in adjusting the variable field of view.
|
A major shortcoming of infrared thermometers is that the infrared "light" (radiation) is invisible to the human eye. Therefore, the position and physical characteristics of the spot being measured, such as its location, shape, size, surface texture, etc., cannot be ascertained by the operator. It is very important for the operator to know where all parts of the target spot are located, because, if any part of the spot is off the edge of the target surface, serious reading errors will occur.
The Everest TTL/SLR (Thru-The-Lens) Intra-Optical Light Sighting System solves this problem. An illuminated image of the infrared detector is projected directly through the infrared optics of the infrared temperature sensor, illuminating the exact area where a temperature measurement is being taken. Because this light shares the optical path, it can never be knocked out of alignment. It will always illuminate the area where the optics is focused.

The AGRI-THERM III is so named because it is the Third Generation of handheld infrared thermometers designed by Everest Interscience for making surface temperature measurements in the natural environment.
|
A hot object "target" is radiating its infrared radiation in all directions whether or not the infrared thermometer is there taking its temperature. The object’s radiation characteristics, and hence its temperature, are not disturbed by the presence of the infrared thermometer.
Infrared Thermometers (IRT):
- Does not produce "intrusion errors". They are non-contact thermometers.
- Have a quick measurement time.
- Can measure temperature from a distance.
- Can measure moving targets.
- Produce no energy interference or energy loss.
- Do not affect the target being measured.
