Performance Assessment for On-site Systems: Regulation, Operation and Monitoring.

XXII IUFRO World Conference
Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Australia, 8-13 August 2005

International Union of Forest Research Organizations. Forests in the Balance: Linking Tradition and Technology.

ICT International Pty Ltd is an Australian company that specialises in the manufacture and international distribution of sapflow, soil moisture and weather monitoring instrumentation for the field environment of agriculture, forestry and engineering. ICT International has been supplying this equipment for many years and has distributors in more than thirty countries.

At the XXII IUFRO World Congress in Brisbane between August 8-13, ICT International released a number of exciting new products for forestry research, forestry scientists and management. ICT International released the Heat Ratio Method (HRM) Sapflow Instrumentation. The HRM allows for very slow flow rates and even reverse sapflow to be measured. This offers significant advantages over previous sapflow methods. This technology has been developed in Australia. ICT International also released stem hygrometers and soil salinity sensors.

All of these sensors are connected to the ICT International Smart Logger. This is a plug and play system. Simply connect any of the sensors into the datalogger, press the button and you are logging. No manual, no wires, plug and play.

SuperSoil 2004

  • The latest soil salinity measuring technology enabling datalogging of salinity and soil moisture.
  • The latest soil moisture measuring technology including Decagon ECH2O and TDR systems as well as soil physics instrumentation.
  • Weather stations which are "plug and play".

4th International Crop Science Congress (4ICSC)
Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Brisbane, Queensland, 25 September - 1 October 2004.

ICT International is the Australian representative for Soilmoisture Equipment Corp. (SEC), Decagon Devices, Dynamax and Soil Measurement Systems.

ICT is also the Asian Dealer Manager for SEC and is able to answer the questions of any Asian Scientists and Dealers in regard to SEC Instrumentation.

ICT displayed:

  • the full range of SEC products
  • the full range of Decagon instruments
  • Soil Measurement Systems
  • Flow Cells
  • Dynamax - HPFM and sap flow systems

Products manufactured by ICT International for which Asian distributors are being sought were displayed. These include:

  • Envirostation "plug and play" weather station systems
  • Envirologger "plug and play" dataloggers
  • CitySAP - sap flow systems
  • Tensiometer Transducers and tensiometer logging systems

The Australian Wine Industry Technical Conference
Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre, Melbourne, Victoria, 23-28 July, 2004.

ICT International featured:

  • SAPS Plant Water Status Console which is used widely for plant based irrigation scheduling in the Californian wine industry.
  • HPFM used by research groups to measure the hydraulic conductance of the various plant parts. The wine industry is using the HPFM to study the effects of partial rootzone wetting on water flow within the grapevine.
  • The latest soil moisture measuring technology including Decagon ECH2O and TDR systems as well as soil physics instrumentation.
  • Weather stations which are "plug and play".
  • Sapflow

Workshop on Environmental Management
Kalgoorlie - Boulder, Western Australia, 26-28 May, 2004.

Organised by the Goldfields Environmental Management Group, "the Workshop will be held over three days and include paper and poster presentations, commercial displays, workshop sessions and excursions to mining and rehabilitation sites of interest."

On-Site04
National On-Site Conference, Perth, Western Australia, 11-13 February 2004.

On-Site04 followed the success in previous years of Lanfax Laboratories' previous On-Site Wastewater Management conferences:

  • On-site '03 - Future Directions for On-site Systems: Best Management Practice.
  • On-site '01 - Advancing on-site wastewater systems: Design and Management.
  • On-site '99 - Making on-site wastewater systems work.

The abstracts for these conferences can be viewed on the web site.

On-Site03
University of New England, Armidale NSW September 29th to October 3rd 2003

"Future Directions for On-Site Systems: Best Management Practice" was the 3rd International conference addressing the growing issue of on-site Wastewater management. As this conference is only held every two years the program was filled with new and groundbreaking research and not to be missed.

ICT International exhibited at the associated Trade Display with a full range of Environmental Monitoring Equipment including Soil Water Samplers, Permeameters and Infiltrometers, Plant Transpiration Systems, and Soil Moisture Monitoring solutions.

Australian Region International Plant Propagators Society (IPPS)
Novatel Pacific Bay Resort, Coffs Harbour, NSW May 30th to June 1st 2003

The 31st Annual Australian Region International Plant Propagators Society conference was held in the picturesque surroundings of the Novatel Pacific Bay Resort in Coffs Harbour. What better opportunity to combine business and pleasure. The IPPS is a select group of International Plant Propagators who have been advancing the nursery industry since their foundation in 1951. With a Motto of Seek and Share this year's conference program does just that as topics including genetic mapping, biotechnology, breeding, improvements in biological weed control and potted plant water use use are covered in detail. A highlight of the keynote paper presentations was Revolutionary New Ways to Measure Water in Pot Media presented by Dr. Peter Cull.

ICT International exhibited a range of products specific to plant propagation and nursery management including the ECH2O soil moisture measurement system, plug & play EnviroStation weather station with automatic ET calculations plus the launch of the new Plant Water Use Monitoring System, CitySAP.

Irrigation 2003 (IAA)
Dubbo Show Ground, Dubbo NSW May 7th & 8th 2003

The annual conference of the Irrigation Association of Australia was held in Dubbo NSW. Richard Pratt from Visy Industries and Don Blackmore from the Murray-Darling Basin Commission, provided insight into what the future might hold and how the industry can not only survive the drought but also develop a sustainable and viable future.

In keeping with our continued support of the Irrigation Association of Australia ICT International attended this key National Irrigation conference. Please visit us at our trade display to discuss your irrigation scheduling needs.

11th Australian Agronomy Conference
Deakin University, Geelong, Victoria 2 - 6 February 2003

ICT International was overwhelmed with the response received at the 11th Annual Agronomy Conference in Geelong. It was tremendous meeting up with long time colleagues and friends and discussing a broad range of topics both professional and personal. There was strong interest in the traditional agronomic instrumentation such as TRASE TDR, Scholander Pressure Bombs, Sapflow and Weather Stations. However, the product that most interested all delegates who visited the ICT booth was without any doubt the New ECH2O Soil Moisture sensors and datalogger with Radio Telemetry.

The conference also provided ICT the chance to visit and train local Victorian distributors on the new ECH2O product range. Distributors and customers who have been selling and using the ECH2O were excited to discuss the success they have had with the product. A number of regional Victorian agronomists also took the opportunity to sign up as new ICT International distributors for the ECH2O product range. The ECH2O provides them with a complete irrigation scheduling solution to offer their growers, who have until now been unable to find an accurate, low cost, logging system that can meet their wide ranging needs across all soil types and cropping applications.

Australian Society of Soil Science Incorporated (ASSSI) Conference
University of Western Australia, Perth 2 - 6 December 2002

We met up with a large number of existing customers and were able to provide onsite, personal technical support to a number of new customers. ICT would like to thank the ASSSI organising committee for allowing us to participate in the conference and for their hard work to make the conference such a successful event. ICT looks forward to attending again next year in Sydney.
