CI-110 Digital Plant Canopy Imager
Auto-level fish-eye camera for forest study
The CI-110 Digital Plant Canopy Imager can capture and analyze images using its fish-eye lens (150°) and CCD camera. It consists of an image-capturing probe (the lens, camera and auto-level gimball), an arm with 24 PAR sensors and built-in USB interface, and optional laptop computer and software.
You can see a live high-resolution fish-eye image when you hold the probe under the plant or forest canopy. After the image is captured, the software quickly calculates the solar beam transmission coefficients using a user-defined number of zenith and azimuthal divisions. The gap-fraction inversion procedure (Normal and Campbell, 1989)* is used to calculate Leaf Area Index of the canopy, diffuse radiation transmission coefficients, mean foliage inclination angles, and plant canopy extinction coefficients. The output data is then displayed on the computer screen and can be saved in a text file.

CI-203 Portable Laser Area Meter
The CI-203 Portable Laser Area Meter uses advanced laser technology to allow researchers a precise and convenient way to measure leaf area (or the areas of leaf-like objects). The high-resolution laser scanner, data logger, and display are all enclosed in a single, hand-held unit weighing only 1 kg. Non-destructive measurements can be performed on leaves of a living plant by simply pulling a leaf through the instrument, enabling collection of data from the same plant throughout its life span.
Precise leaf area measurements may also be performed on tender leaves. A transparent sheath may be used with delicate leaves. All six measurement parameters (area, width, length, perimeter, shape factor, and aspect ratio) comprise a data set and are compiled at the same time. Over 15,000 data points can be stored and transferred to a computer or printer.
Repeatability and Volume Measuring
The CI-203 Laser Area Meter features an optional glass drum conveyor attachment (CI-203CA) to enable large volume, leaf area measurements in a fast, accurate, semi-automated operation. The conveyor attachment completes the ultimate leaf area measurement solution.
Root scanning
The CI-203RL Root Measurement Attachment is an accessory to the CI-203 Portable Laser Area Meter for determining root length and area. The CI-203RL consists of a carrier base, a removable guide that inserts into the CI-203 in place of the handle, and a CI-203RT root tray. To measure root length, simply slide the CI-203 Portable Laser Area Meter over the root tray. The total length of the roots in the tray will be displayed.

CI-340 Hand-Held Photosynthesis System
The CI-340 is a lightweight hand-held photosynthesis system. It features a new design concept and a compact solid-state structure. The entire system - display, keypad, computer, data memory, CO 2/H 2O gas analyzer, flow control system, and battery - is contained in a single hand-held case. It has everything you need to measure photosynthesis, transpiration, stomatal conductance, and internal CO 2 concentration, as well as many other factors. Because the chamber is connected directly to the CO 2/H 2O differential gas analyzer, there is virtually no time delay when measuring CO 2/H 2O in the chamber. With CID's carbonate injection CO 2/H 2O generator module, the CI-340 can precisely control CO 2 and H 2O concentrations in the leaf chamber.
The CI-340 can also control temperature and light intensity with the optional temperature and light control modules. Furthermore, a chlorophyll fluorescence module can be attached to the CI-340 to simultaneously measure photosynthesis and chlorophyll fluorescence. These features make the CI-340 a fast, small, and accurate photosynthesis system for research and teaching.

- An entire photosynthesis system in one hand-held case
- Lightweight and truly portable
- Stable analyzer for accurate CO2 and H2O measurements
- Open and closed system measurements
