Cable Joining and Waterproofing Kit

When joining DataBus cables that are used outdoors, it is important that the correct waterproofing tape is used to prevent water ingress. DataBus connectors are not inherently weatherproof, and water ingress will eventually lead to malfunction of the connectors.

The cable joining and waterproofing kit is available from ICT to solve this problem.

After plugging the connectors together, use self-amalgamating tape (fig 1.) to thoroughly wrap the connectors and seal them. The tape should be applied using a slight stretch which helps it to bind to itself to form a waterproof seal. The last few inches of tape should not be stretched to prevent “flagging”.

The electrical insulation tape (fig 2.) is then applied to hold the self-amalgamating tape in place while it settles into position and amalgamates.
